What to consider when going for Authorisation

Gaining authorisation from the National Safety Authority (such as the Office of Rail and Road [ORR] in the UK) is a critical step in placing your project into service. To ensure approval, you must demonstrate that key requirements have been met. Keep these in mind as you plan your activities:

▪️ Clearly define the programme’s technical scope and interfaces.

▪️ Demonstrate compliance with National Technical Specification Notices (UK) / Technical Specifications for Interoperability (Europe) and applicable National Standards.

▪️ Prove safe integration through CSM RA safety documentation.

▪️ Ensure operational and maintenance readiness.

The amount of work required for these approvals is significant, with both major and minor elements needing careful attention.
